One of the first steps of the UN General Assembly to protect the rights of children was the formation in 1946 of the UN Children's Fund. November 20, 1996, it was decided to celebrate Children's Rights Day.
Not all inventions of the early twentieth century are saturated with tenderness on the part of adults. Some of them speak of fatigue, physical and moral, which accumulated when nursing a little man.
But it is impossible to care for a newborn without spending any energy on it. Human cubs are born with undeveloped systems and organs. And you need a lot of time, knowledge, desire, love, so that they turn into mature people.
Many inventions, of course, were created with good intentions, but at present the relevance of their use is a big question.
10. A safety belt for a bathroom
Older children’s sisters claim that a child should be at arm's length from an adult. If this distance is greater, then an accident of negligence begins to "guard" the baby.
Carl Fischer, an engineer by training, decided to worry about a situation in which the child is left unattended in the bathroom. To do this, he proposed to install a metal rod in the bath.
A system of straps was put on the crumbs body. And if there was a need for an adult to leave the room, then the child was fastened to the rod inside the bath. Simple and tasteful.
9. Walkers
Probably, this technique is good in the hands of the author. In Switzerland in 1939, quite original walkers were invented.
An adult connects his legs with the legs of the child with the help of wooden bars, which are fastened with straps to the feet of the child. This measure was also necessary because it allowed to keep the baby balance. The whole structure when walking was able to direct the movements of the driven baby.
But human physiology was not taken into account. In the beginning, the child must competently learn to fall, and after that, when the protection mechanism is completed, the baby gets on its feet and gradually, more confidently and confidently, begins to walk.
8. Children's gas mask
Designed to protect children in the face of a gas attack. The gas mask is a sealed bag, equipped with a manual air supply system and a filter unit.
The one who holds the child is able to control the air supply. Now imagine that if an adult dies, the fate of the baby will be a foregone conclusion.
7. UV lamp for marking newborns
To return from a maternity hospital with a stranger is a fear that has emerged since the functioning of the maternity hospital.
In 1938, ultraviolet lamps appeared on the equipment of maternity hospitals, which left sunburns on the baby's skin in the form of the initials of a newborn.
By the way, at present, newborns continue to be afraid to confuse after birth. To avoid such a misfortune, pilot tests have been devised and are undergoing, in which infants are marked with barcodes.
6. Advanced children's gas mask
From these inventions, the horror of the death of both adult family members and its small representatives blows. It is 1939. Three months later, Germany will attack Poland. The new gas mask has a filter; air supply control is still carried out by an adult. The cloth part of the gas mask is made of rubberized and gas-tight material. There is a window in the helmet through which the child can observe others.
5. Children's bicycle seat
In 1938, Emile Eberle designed a seat for his child for cycling together. It was mounted on the steering wheel, and the metal frame was connected to the central axis of the front wheel.
The seat had a convertible top in case of bad weather. The baby's legs were covered with a square casing. The child was seated in the seat. He looked forward. This arrangement of the baby did not interfere with communication with an adult.
4. Cradle with a mechanical drive
In 1920, a cradle was invented, which was driven by a clockwork. The author of this groundbreaking miracle is Luther Jones. According to his idea, the cradle was merry on chains, attached to a metal frame. The mechanism starts, the engine rotates the wheel, then the chains swing, and the child falls asleep.
History is silent whether the inventor had children. And what feedback did the cradle receive.
3. Case for the child
The present invention entered into operation in 1917. In those days, the concept of protecting the rights of the child probably did not exist. And if the child began to bother the public around him, then such a baby should not be reassured, but hidden in a special case.
It was a metal perforated container with a hinged lid. It is noteworthy that it was recommended to parents to keep the lid open during wakefulness, to close during sleep.
2. Automatic cradle
In September 1917, a child was born in the Vandenburg family in New York. Extremely whiny creature. Either the character showed the baby, or what ailment bothered him - is unknown.
The talented parent invented the cradle. It looked like a basket attached to two wooden disks and suspended from a wooden frame. In order for the cradle to swing, the inventor assembled a mechanism that rotates the crank lever attached to the crossbar. This miracle of parental love was equipped with a gentle, ticking sound that reassured the child.
1. Sleeping balcony
This masterpiece of care for a small person is dated 1916. Already then mothers or nannies had no time to walk with newborn children. For such situations, a metal structure was invented, which was attached to the windowsill, and a stroller rolled into it. To make the child comfortable, a mosquito net was attached from above. The inventors guaranteed the safety of the baby.
