The government of any state (even the most liberal) has its own documents, carefully protected from the public under the heading "secret." However, after a certain period of time, some documents become public, allowing themselves to be made public.
As a rule, the content of these documents causes a huge resonance in society, revealing the dark sides of a particular state. This may be experiments conducted with the consent of the state or actions that are unacceptable, from a moral point of view, or even completely illegal. It is about such declassified government documents that we want to talk about in this article.

Operation Northwoods
In 1962, the Department of Defense of the United States of America sent a request to the CIA or another government department, proposing to arrange one or more terrorist acts directed against its own citizens. With these actions, they wanted to explain the military invasion of Cuba, presenting the terrorist attacks by the actions of the island state government. Among the possible acts of violence against their own citizens, the possibility of hijacking airplanes, explosions in public places and simulating attacks by the Cuban military with fake many evidence was considered.
Thus, the Ministry of Defense wanted to get support from the population, having received public consent for the start of hostilities against Cuba. When the document fell into the hands of then US President John F. Kennedy, he became furious, rejecting the possibility of violent acts, and dismissing the author of the operation. It is worth clarifying that during this period Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba, having received full support from the USSR, the Cold War was in full swing.
Although Kennedy rejected Operation Northwoods, the Joint Chiefs of Staff did not discard the possibility of carrying it out, continuing to plan the operation behind the president. Having learned about the documents, the world wondered who was to blame for the terrorist attacks of 2001.

Churchill was planning the assassination of Hitler
It is known that several dozen attempts were made on Hitler, however, it was not always possible to find out the people behind the planning of the murder. One of the declassified British documents suggests that Winston Churchill, in the event of the capture of Hitler or any of the party leaders of the NSDAP, was going to execute prisoners without trial.
Churchill was the first world leader to consider Hitler's threat to all of humanity, describing him as a criminal and the root of universal evil. Despite support from the USSR and the United States, the British Prime Minister believed that the trial of the Nazis would not be fair. He stated that as soon as the Fuhrer fell into the hands of the British, he would be executed immediately.
Unfortunately for Churchill, he never managed to see Hitler’s death, because the leader of the Third Reich committed suicide a few days before the surrender of Germany, or ... but let's not get ahead of ourselves, we have to declassify another document.

Operation Gladio
After the end of World War II, the so-called Cold War began - a political confrontation between the United States and Western European states, on the one hand, and the USSR and the Warsaw Pact countries on the other. At some point in the Western countries hysteria began over the possible invasion of the Communists.
In this regard, the secret operation “Gladio” was developed, involving the creation of a whole militarized network of “those who remained in the rear”. These organizations (initially it was only about Italy, later other countries accepted the operation) were supposed to remain on the territory of the enemy if he seized their countries, and wage a guerrilla war with terrorist attacks and sabotage.
Despite the fact that the operation was developed in Italy, the government did not even suspect about its preparation. The whole process was supervised directly by the CIA, which established contact with the secret security service of Italy. In a short time, a small army of 1 thousand people was able to gather, but all plans were revealed by local journalists who called Operation Gladio one of the most hidden and most shameful war documents since World War II.

Accident IR655
In the summer of 1988, a passenger plane flying over the waters of the Persian Gulf was shot down by a missile launched by a cruiser armed with the US Navy. The Airbus A300, owned by Iranian civilian airlines, hit a ground-to-air projectile. The explosion killed all passengers and crew on board, in the amount of 290 people.
The incident caused a scandal in the world community, fueled by the fact that the airliner was in the airspace of Iran. The US military had no reason to attack the plane, justifying itself by accepting its Iranian F14 fighter (at that time there was an Iran-Iraq war, where the US was on the side of Iraq).
An organized search for survivors yielded nothing, and the indignation of the whole world was so great that the US government was forced to pay compensation to the families of the victims. At the same time, America did not admit its guilt and did not apologize, despite being convicted of lying on many facts of the incident.

Nixon sabotages peace agreement with Vietnam
Around many classified documents there are always rumors that are confirmed after the publication of the contents of these documents. For example, adherents of conspiracy theory actively put forward the version of the sabotage by US President Nixon of peace with Vietnam, which turned out to be true. His actions led to the continuation of a bloody war, which claimed the lives of many military and civilians.
Nixon’s alleged benefits from such actions are still unclear. During the election race, he put off the Vietnamese question until the last, playing on the feelings of the two camps of American society. Having hardly received the presidency for the second time, he initiated an escalation of the conflict.
According to some reports, Nixon's aides secretly invited the armies of South Vietnam to disrupt the peace talks. Rumors surrounding this, as well as the Watergate scandal, forced Nixon to resign without waiting for impeachment.
Speaking of the bloodiest wars in history, thebiggest.ru recently wrote an article.

Monopoly and World War II
At the beginning of World War II, the British army suffered huge losses, in particular, many soldiers were captured and were in Germany. Before being sent to war, any soldier received an order to escape from captivity at every opportunity, however, how to do this while in enemy territory without navigation and money?
To help their prisoners, the British government came up with a brilliant plan. The MI5 secret intelligence service appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross with a request to agree with the German government on the supply of humanitarian aid and board games, namely bingo and monopoly, to the captured soldiers. Fortunately, the Germans made concessions, but that was only half the battle.
To discard cards from an airplane in a box from a monopoly is one thing, and making cards invisible is another. The company Waddington Ltd, which produced those same monopolies, helped in resolving the issue. Manufacturers made cards on the finest silk, which did not make sounds when deployed and did not get wet, unlike paper cards. Moreover, such cards could be crumpled to a minimum size.
Together with cards, folded money from different countries was invested in playing chips (the path to Britain lay through several occupied states) and miniature compasses. Such a cunning plan allowed many British military to escape from captivity.

Cat bombs
During World War II, one of the best ways to attack ships was to use dive bombers. The disadvantage of such bombing was a low efficiency, since most of the shells fell into the water before reaching the target.
In this regard, one of the military put forward a brilliant idea in his stupidity, namely, to tie bombs to cats before the bombing. It was assumed that cats that could not tolerate water would swim to the ship. The idea failed miserably for many reasons. But the main reason - the military could not force the cats to stop "fighting" with bombs, a hundred times their weight.

Weapon “Voice of the Lord”
According to rumors, the US military invented radio frequency weapons that literally “put” words into the human mind. It is called V2K, which stands for "voice under the skull." The operation of the weapon involves the microwave transmission of clicks that transform into words.
These clicks with the words “penetrate” the head of a person or animal, prompting the victim to act. The weapon can be used even on the street, after receiving information about its existence, many people said they were exposed to V2K. The idea of trying to manipulate public consciousness with the help of electromagnetic weapons immediately penetrated the masses.
Interestingly, the device information was available on the official website of the US Army, however, it was later deleted without explanation. It is assumed that the “voice under the skull” was applied to Abu Zubaid, steadily withstanding torture by US intelligence for 83 days. At one point, he heard the voice of Allah, directing Abu to cooperate with the investigation.
By the way, on our site thebiggest.ru there is interesting material about 13 extremely dangerous types of weapons that are prohibited for use during hostilities.

Operation Paperclip
Most prominent figures of Nazi Germany were convicted and executed immediately after the end of World War II. But some of the party’s people were outstanding scientists, which made them extremely important cadres in the upcoming Cold War.
In this regard, the United Intelligence Agency for the United States (JIOA) has developed the operation "Paperclip", involving the recruitment of German scientists pundits before they fall into the hands of Britain or the USSR. US President Harry Truman personally familiarized himself with the upcoming operation, approving it under one condition - none of the recruits should have been members of the Nazi party or participated in crimes against humanity.
About 1,500 scientists were “redone” during the operation, of course, all of them could not meet the requirements of the head of government. To "whitewash" JIOA scientists engaged in the alteration of their documents and biographies, crossing out undesirable facts and adding new ones. All the documentation and fictional details of the biographies of the “new scientists of the US government” were fastened with ordinary paper clips, which predetermined the name of the operation.

Hitler fled to Argentina
This point, of course, is the most controversial. And there is no concrete declassified document proving the plausibility of this event. But the version is quite interesting, so we included it in the list.
Remember the second paragraph of our rating, where we promised an alternative version of Hitler's demise? So, in our country it is considered that Hitler laid hands on himself, having been poisoned by potassium cyanide. There are assumptions that he was shot. However, from the time of the alleged death of the German dictator to the present day, rumors have not abated that he did not die at all, but calmly lived to an old age in South America.
Many people, including Americans and Argentines, claim to have seen Hitler in Argentina. True, the testimonies vary, some claim that he was in the company of some Latin American, others swear that Eva Brown was with him. We are not inclined to believe rumors, but we cannot pass by such a conspiracy theory.
She says that supposedly the corpse of Hitler’s double was presented to the public, and the “Vienna artist” himself secretly fled to the Iberian Peninsula, from where he moved in a submarine, accompanied by two more submarines to South America. Initially, he arrived in Paraguay (the main blow to the theory of how he could get on a submarine to a landlocked country), later settling in a "silver" country. Some sources also claim that the American intelligence services helped Hitler to escape, having received in exchange many scientists and work on the creation of nuclear weapons. To believe in it or consider it a myth is a personal matter for everyone, but it seems to us that in history there are too many inaccuracies and outright lies.
